Making the switch to organic clothing…

When I first started moving towards toxin-less living, the transition was overwhelming. I started with what seemed the most important, food. Within a few years, yes years, alongside pregnancy, I transitioned all of my personal care products and home cleaning at once. Almost a decade later, I started transitioning my closet.

This past holiday, I took advantage of Black Friday sales and spent a small amount on some basic items.  After much research and price comparing, I shopped Q for Quinn for underwear and socks, I opted for half plant dyed and half dye free for underwear, but all being 100% GOT certified organic cotton.  This is important as GOT certified ensures that the cotton is not sprayed or treated with any harmful chemicals or toxins.  Most cotton in America is sprayed with Glysophate and other pesticides.

I also grabbed some underwear and socks for my 6 year old.  I found Disney Princess themed 100% GOT certified cotton underwear from Monica + Andy, and am now able to toss the Target and H&M toxic underwear.

I then searched for T-shirts.  Some good options seem to be Avocado Mattress and Everlane, but a massive holiday sale left every size but XS sold out, and a XS I am not!  I ended up grabbing some Tee’s from Pact, they have several colors and a great holiday pice.  I also got a cute striped sweater and 2 cotton blazers, I figured these would be nice coverage for the cooler months, although they were pricey, it gives me a basic wardrobe until I can truly up my toxin-less clothing game.

Finally, I had purchased a few pairs of sweat pants from Primary when shopping for my 6 year old for Christmas.  I purchased 2 colors of their basic sweats and they have changed my life.  I’ve read that some fabrics carry a frequency, when they’re natural, low processed materials, much like grounding.  And upon wearing my first ever pair of organic cotton pants, I felt it.  It was like the feeling I get when using my PEMF mat.  So I bought two more pairs, along with some organic cotton pajamas.

I’m excited to wear all organic cotton.

The next up is my bedding.  I started using Boll and Branch 8 years ago,  I liked Boll and Branch (which is 100% GOT certified organic cotton), but they’re not super soft in my opinion.  After listening to Dr. Mark Hyman promote the uber soft Cozy Earth bamboo sheets, I tried these and love them, they are so so so soft and fee absolutely amazing.  I bought a set for every room in the house.  But, after some additional research I came to discover that although they use organic bamboo, apparently the processing of bamboo requires harsh chemicals.
